Beginning Students

I strongly believe that new students must feel confident and secure on a horse to be able to learn to ride correctly.

New riders are started on a lunge-line attached to the horse’s head, which allows me to maintain control and steering of the horse. This allows the rider to concentrate on his or her position and feeling without fear.

All lessons are given on a one-to-one basis, rather than a group setting, so that each rider can progress at his or her own rate.

As the rider progresses, he or she will learn balance and how to control their body independently, communicating with the horse in an effective matter. These principles become the foundation for whatever specific horse disciplines that the rider chooses to pursue, such as dressage, eventing, jumping or trail riding.

My goal is to develop new students
into  confident, balanced and effective riders

Advanced Students

As students become more confident and effective in their riding, more focus is directed towards developing the communication between the rider  and the horse.

Rider and horse must form a partnership, regardless of discipline, and like any relationship, there must be communication.  Whether in the show ring, cross country course or pleasure riding, a horse that is softly responsive to the rider’s aids will be more enjoyable to ride.

I focus on teaching the rider the correct use of aids in order to influence the horse and create the desired response. Lessons for advanced students continue on a one-to-one basis, allowing each student to progress at his or her own comfort level.

I invite my students to continue their education by showing and attending clinics with other professionals.

There is always something more to learn
when it comes to horses!.
